Harnessing our Master Distiller Jason Nickels’ extensive knowledge and understanding of flavour, foraging, botany, and of course distillation, we’re proud to craft as much of the process at our waterside distillery as possible.
‘Aegean Sky’ has been carefully distilled and crafted using 6 botanicals and a further 6 natural flavours, all of which have been handpicked to showcase the vibrant coastlines of the southern Mediterranean.
Kumquat / Blood Orange / Olive / Rosehip / Bergamot / Rosemary
To create our non-alcoholic aperitifs, we make a ‘botanical steep’ using neutral grain spirit and water. The use of alcohol is an important part of the process to extract and carry flavour. The steep is then distilled in our rotary vacuum still; a process that removes the alcohol without removing the flavour. This creates a highly concentrated core flavour distillate, which acts as the backbone of ‘Aegean Sky’. This core flavour distillate is then carefully blended with further natural flavours and stabilised with the unusual use of kombucha.
One signature serve = approximately 45 calories.
Ingredients: Water, grape juice from concentrate, kombucha, natural botanical distillates and extracts. Acid: Citric, Preservatives: Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate, Acidity Regulator: Sodium Citrate, Thickener: Xanthan Gum.
Bursting with bright citrusy notes, this refreshing aperitif from Salcombe Distilling Co. is inspired by the sun-soaked shores of the Mediterranean. Layers of bitter blood orange and bergamot are softened by earthy olive and a lingering herbaceous aroma of rosemary. It works best as a spritz, mixed with a light tonic or non-alcoholic sparkling wine, then served over ice.
